Avinyonet del Penedès (Inhabitants 1.344).

The dispersion of population is the most outstanding feature. The administrative capital is Avinyó Nou. The following towns also come under the administrative jurisdiction of Avinyonet del Penedès: Les Gunyoles, Sant Sebastià del Gorgs, Cantallops, L’Arboçar, La Garrofa and Sant Pere d’Avinyó – which gives its name to the town. Avinyonet del Penedès is orographically divided into two halves: one relatively flat, the other mountainous. Puig de la Mola, at 532m, being the highest point. The main economic activity is agriculture, in particular vineyards.

Monastery of Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs:

The monastery of Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs is the most emblematic of the Romanic Period in El Penedès. The monastery preserves part of the church – original Romanic - the old portal with a carved tympanum from the 12th century and the rectangular bell tower with barrel vault twin windows, unique in the Penedès region. The ruins of three stretches of the cloister gallery from the 11th and 12th centuries and some sculptures remain from the Visigoth Period.
