The borough of Castellet i La Gornal, covering an area of 46,84 km2, is located in the south-west of the Alt Penedès district, equidistant from each of the triangle of towns formed by Vilafranca del Penedès, Vilanova i La Geltrú and El Vendrell. The borough has the shape of an inverted “C” and is crossed by the River Foix, which comes in from the north and crosses towards the southeast winding through the borough for 8km. The highest peaks are Puig Rodó and Plana Morta at 409m. Foix Reservoir is located at the heart of the borough and has some unique features. The water level is always high and stable, which has lead to very particular vegetation along the riversides and a progressively varied fauna. The Consortium for the Foix Park has as its objective the protection of this wetland area and the preservation of its biodiversity. The council of Castellet i La Gornal is made up of the towns of La Gornal, Castellet, Les Casetes de La Gornal, Clariana, Les Masuques, Torrelletes, Sant Marçal, Rocallisa, Els Rosers and the houses from Valldemar, Trencarroques i La Creu - Els Àngels.

Foix Park:
A natural environment of 2,900 hectares. The most characteristic element is the Foix Marsh, which generates a wide variety of ecological environments with a very high level of biodiversity. Without doubt it is a singular historic and architectural patrimony.

A medieval group of buildings already documented in the 10th century and linked to many lineages, which have conferred a unique personality on it. The castle has been through many modifications and has recently been restored. |
