Olèrdola (Inhabitants 2.610).

Olèrdola is the borough with the most consolidated archaeological value. It was an important population centre during medieval times and was the backbone of the region. A visit to the walled grounds is a must, as it gives an idea of the historical importance of the region and the living conditions of our ancestors. Olèrdola is a mountainous land, particularly to the south, which expands towards the western side of the Garraf mountains, where the Àliga Peak reaches 468m. Peak Papiol (388m) is also important. There are four main towns: Moja, St. Miquel d’Olèrdola, St. Pere Molanta and Viladellops, as well as the residential centres Daltmar and Can Trabal.

NOT TO BE MISSED:

The monuments of Olèrdola:

Chapel of Sant Esteve de Moja:

Old Romanic church from the 11th and 12th century. It is now a part of the parish church of Sant Jaume de Moja. The building only has a nave and a semicircular apse ornamented with blind arches, Lombard ornaments and three windows.

Regional park of Olèrdola:

Located on the last mountain range of the Garraf massif – in the area between the Vilafranca Brook and the Àliga Peak, at the division of the L’Alt Penedès and the Garraf regions. The countryside is characterized by the dominant presence of white pine trees, which are found throughout a land with few geographical accidents. In the areas where the thin top soil prevents forest growth you can see the magic of lentisks and saw palmettos, trees which are very typical of the Mediterranean countryside.
