DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES:
WHEN WAS THE COUNCIL CREATED AND WHAT ARE ITS OBJECTIVES?
The Tourism Council was created on the 30th June 1999 with the aim of promoting the following activities:
- To promote and foster coordinated tourism policies in the region.
- To coordinate the different tourism operators in the region in order to reach policy consensus on all actions and promote citizenship awareness in relation to the tourism phenomenon.
- To promote the creation of complementary facilities in the tourism field.
- To stimulate a range of cultural, artistic, sportive and leisure activities according to the characteristics of L’Alt Penedès region and its tourist population, with a view to fostering a wide offer of leisure activities in the region.
- To represent the tourism interests of L’Alt Penedès region within other administrative bodies, such as the Council of Tourism Promotion of Catalonia, the Catalan Council of Tourism, the International Fair of Tourism of Barcelona, etc.
- To create a unique global offer in the region.
- To project and develop specific programmes and activities of tourism interest in the region.
- To offer advice to the region’s towns with regards to tourism and related services.
- To allow for any other activity with a tourism dynamization focus not covered in the above sections.
